Update on My Projects

Friends, well-wishers, and distant relations…err, readers,

Given my lack of recent posts, I thought it fitting that I should provide an update in case you are one of the few people who have been experiencing withdrawal.

First, regarding the (A)Millennial podcast: Although I was extremely satisfied with the quality of guests I was able to engage with during the first two seasons and moderately satisfied with my own ability as a podcaster, I grew rather tired of the many hours of work that go into each episode. I have therefore been considering whether to continue with this endeavor. I certainly have more topics I would love to cover and people I would like to interview. A rough sketch of a third season exists in my mind, but right now I need rest. I therefore do not plan to return to podcasting until autumn 2021 at the earliest.

Second, regarding my novels: The initial draft of the third and final book in the Chronicle of Maud trilogy, The Eternal Queen, has been completed. I am now in the editing process and do not anticipate being done with that prior to autumn 2021. Look for a release of this book in late 2021 or the first half of 2022. I believe it is the best of the three and brings things to a nice conclusion. I am not sure if I will write more novels in the future. I do have another story I would particularly like to tell, but I’m not quite ready to make such a big time commitment.

Third, regarding my other writing: I am no longer contributing articles to other sites except by special request. However, I do hope to get some new material up on this blog in the near future. Some time ago, I began another project for my own personal benefit that has now grown to the point that I would like to share some or all of it with the world. I have been re-reading The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien and writing an essay about each chapter. This work began in late 2018 or early 2019, ceased after six months or so, and has now been resumed following my pregnancy and early days of motherhood. There is a wealth of Tolkien commentary out there already, and I don’t normally like to write about something for this long unless there is a void that needs to be filled. However, as I stated, this began as a personal project, so that wasn’t a factor in my decision. Do not expect an extensively cited work of literary criticism, but a simpler examination of the themes in this book and how they relate to myself and our present historical moment.

That’s all I have to report right now. Be on the look out for more posts in the coming months.
