Review of The Forsaken Monarch by Aimee Byrd

Christian author Aimee Byrd, a fellow writer for the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals, has written a brief review of my second novel in the Chronicle of Maud series, The Forsaken Monarch. Upon reading it, I was amused to learn that she shares my frustration about all the people in the 12th century who used the same names for their children: a novelist’s nightmare! I particularly appreciated these words she wrote about the main character.

In Maud we see privilege mixed with vulnerability, honor mixed with disgust, ambition with resignation. And in this, readers must ponder deeper life-questions about loyalty, legacy, and submission to something higher than our own desires and even rights. Not only that, I just love Maud’s wit, her bravery, and her personality in general.

You can read Aimee’s review at this link. I continue to be encouraged by the positive feedback for this labor of love!
